“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others. Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men. I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
There are always something good and things that may not be so good in people. But you can choose what to focus on. If you want improvement in life, then focusing on the good in people. It makes life easier as your world and relationships will become more pleasant and positive.
When you see the good in people, you will be motivated to be of service to them. By being of service to other people and giving them value, you not only make their lives better. Over time you tend to get what you give. And the people you help may feel more inclined to help other people. So all together, create an upward spiral of positive change that grows.
As you encounter others, put on a smile and say hello. We never know the struggles that a specific person is going through and something as small as a smile and a warm greeting can change someone’s outlook. Smiling is contagious. When you smile at someone, they automatically smile back and you are immediately rewarded for your efforts.
When we open our eyes and focus on love and empathy, we see opportunities to make an impact in someone’s life. Brightening someone’s day without them knowing who did it can make a big difference in their lives.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
– John Bunyan
