Death is not the enemy of life, but its friend, for it is the knowledge that our years are limited which makes them so precious. It is the truth that time, is but lent to us which makes us, at our best, look upon our years as a trust handed into our temporary keeping.
– Joshua Loth Liebman
Life has a way of accelerating as we grow older. The days get shorter and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning we awaken, all we have to show for our lives is a litany of “I’m going to do this someday”, “I plan on someday”, and “Someday, when things are settled down a bit”.
In our lives, many of us get so busy that we forget to remember and celebrate, on occasion what life is really about. Take time out every once in a while and reflect upon your life. Be there for the people that you love – the birthday parties, the weddings, dinner parties, graduation ceremonies and cookouts. Don’t chase a dream and forget about the people who help you to feel alive.
Life is not for granted, as we are not always guaranteed a new life as each day passes. If you are going to die soon within a few minutes and have only one phone call you can make, who will you call and what will you say? And … why are you still waiting?
Go on and have a nice day. Do something you want to – not only the things on your To Do List.
